No longer work on metered network to stop Windows 10 auto--force update!


Extremely forceful auto update in Windows 10 Home edition.

- Windows 10 Pro (and Enterprise) edition can easily block the auto update with group policy setting.


I was very irritated by Windows 10 update because it kept bugging me for restart.
So I had to find how to stop Windows 10's auto-update--I did this before about two years ago.

And I found two options:
One is set on metered network in wifi setting--turn on the "Set as metered connection".
Other one is change group policy settings. But this option is available for Windows 10 Pro and Enterprise edition. Mine is Windows 10 Home edition so I can't use this option.
* About two years ago, it wasn't possible to disable Windows 10 update service but now it might possible.

And luckily, I'm using wifi to connect internet so I did use first option.

So I didn't get the update for quite while. About a month ago or a few months ago, I thought I needed update Windows Defender so I did use Windows update.

After that, at first I didn't notice much about this red circle with cross mark in Windows Defender Security Centre icon.
But about a month or two months ago, it kept showing the icon in taskbar like this:

And then I just realise it that suddenly my mouse--actually, I'm using wacom tablet as mouse though, sometimes stuck--not responding like 5 to 30 seconds.
I thought this is because my computer--almost 10 years old laptop computer, was quite old so that is the reason that my mouse was not responding.

But it looks like actual reason is Windows 10 kept trying to update in metered network.

It said:
Update settings
We'll automatically download and install updates, except on metered connections (where charges may apply). In that case, we'll automatically download only those updates required to keep Windows running smoothly.

So it will automatically download and updates in metered connections, too.

I haven't try the disable windows update service yet. I have no other choice--I have to do that to stop auto update.

Stuck in a Windows 10 update loop - KB4088776

When I'm writing this, I realised that my problem is not only because of that reason. Those update numbers were very familiar--KB4088776.
It kept trying to install the update and then it kept failed like this:

I think I found solution for looping update of '2018-03 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1709 for x64-based Systems (KB4088776)' from here:



I'm not sure whether it will fix the problem but there have number of possible solutions so I think I might find a way.




P.S. Additional info. wrote at September 10, 2018:
My laptop computer's wifi network driver not working time to time, if I don't do the update for Windows 10--because metered network--partly blocked update.
Very strange happening--when it happened first time, I thought my laptop computer was too old because it's 8 to 10 years old. But it kept happening again. So I did update Windows 10 and it was okay. But three(or two?) month later it happened again. And just a few days--or a week ago, Windows 10 start showing warning of update. Very similar behaviour like first time.
Now I'm trying to update Windows 10 again. And I will write it again, whether wifi-issue was gone or not.

My guess was right. After update Windows 10, I am not getting wifi-network issues anymore.
So if I don't do Windows 10 update, I can't use internet.

Nikon 24mm f/2.8 AI-S Nikkor lens sample photos.

Nikon Nikkor 24mm f/2.8 Ai-s lens technical details:

format: 35mm SLR

I don't much care about this technical details of lens. But sometimes it can be useful.
For example, if I already have 52mm uv filter or hood, I can use with this lens.
And I'm walking long hours when I do photo-walks. So if lens wasn't heavy, it was very suitable for me. That is the reason that I mostly shoot with prime lens.
So I do check those things from the technical details.

About the lens evaluation:

I'm not that much good at judging about the lens. But I read quite a lot about the lens from the web.
And quite number of times, I'm finding very strange remark--like this one.

I can't say I really like what Nikon 24mm f2.8 ais produce. And I probably can say I really don't like the corner or edge area--but not all the photos I took. So sometimes or many times, it was quite okay with those corner or edge area.
So if some people saying Nikon 24mm f2.8 ais was bad--because she or he doesn't like what Nikon 24mm f2.8 produce, I probably can agree.

But problem is when some people trying to prove Nikon 24mm f2.8 ais lens were terrible lens--with compare the extremely expensive--excellent lens.
Some people compare this lens with Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 lens--I don't know much about zoom lens but I think this is one of best zoom lens that Nikon produced, or with Nikon 18-35mm f/3.5-4.5G lens.
Nikon 24-70mm f2.8 costs about $1,800. And Nikon 18-35mm costs about $750.

Nikon 24mm f2.8 ais is old lens so compare with market price wasn't fair. But newer version of this lens is Nikon 24mm f2.4d so it costs $339. You can probably buy Nikon 24mm f2.8 ais lens for about $120 to $200.
Many people were trying to compare with these huge different price tag--$1,800 lens to compare with far less than $339 lens.
Does it make sense to you?

At least, they don't try to compare with Nikon 14-24mm f2.8 lens which quite number of people refer to one of best wide angle zoom lens--not only Nikon lens, among other brand lens like Canon.


This lens can't be really good like Nikon 50mm f/1.8 lens or probably like Nikon 28mm f/2.8 Ai-S lens. But I don't think it is worse than 20mm f/2.8d lens--that also quite hard to judge because 20mm was wider than 24mm lens so corner wasn't worse than 24mm.

Nikon 24mm f/2.8 ais probably wasn't great lens like Nikon 50mm f/1.8 or Nikon 28mm f/2.8 Ai-S(minimum focus to 0.2 meter version). But I think it is quite good lens or at least, it's okay lens--not everyone, of course. And many people include me was slightly disappointed with corner--quite soft.
So if you use with crop body, I think you probably won't disappoint--people have different taste of things so some people might disappoint though.

Technical notes:

These photos were all taken with handheld and I used Nikon lens to Sony E mount or Micro four thirds adapter so I have no idea about aperture number for the photo. Some photos were taken with Nikon D7000 which can recorded aperture number.

When I am taking photos, I do use Raw file format. So I need to convert Raw file to jpg file and during that time, I do some post-processing--this is kind of darkroom process in developing film.
And when I do this, I don't use any default setting from Rawtherapee because there has some image modification settings like sharpening, micro-contrast and among other things.
I don't use Adobe Photoshop but this also has same kind of default setting with sharpening.
This isn't important for photography. But this is about the lens--what kind of photo I can take with this lens. So sharpening won't help to know about the lens.

So when I do use Rawtherapee, I removed all the default setting.
I will do these adajustments, if necessary:
 - click the auto button in exposure tab--automatically calculate the exposure value,
 - adjust exposure value, if overall image was still dark or too bright,
 - adjust contrast(between 3 and 18) in L*a*b* adjustments tab,
 - if there have some areas were too dark or too bright which makes me feel unbalance the overall look, adjust the shadow/highlight value.
 - Sometimes, white balance set to auto. Because Sony A7's white balance value was quite terrible when I do use other brand lens--not Sony E mount lens.

I was trying to focus center part but it came out like that. But you can see how out of focus part looks like--Nikon D7000 has crop factor of x1.5 so Nikon 24mm became 36mm.
With crop body, it is still useful for close up--or macro shot.

As you can see from the photo, it was mixture of quite bad pollution, smog and not very bright winter sun light.


Olympus E-P3 with Nikon 24mm f2.8 lens - Olympus E-P3 has crop factor of x2 so this is lens became 48mm lens--not wide at all.

P.S. I forgot to mention that this photo was post-processed with Olympus Viewer 3 program. Because I felt that it has some noise--ISO 200 so I didn't use Rawtherapee.



This photo was cropped out from previous photo. I did use auto-white balance function in Gimp--open source software. For making clear the leaves and water droplets.


Sony A7 with Nikon 24mm f2.8 lens:

This is handheld-HDR shot which automatically generate from Sony A7--HDR paiting in Picture effect menu. And it took three shots to make one HDR photo.
That is the reason why you can see left side of photos with ghost--halo of cars.
I did include this photo because this photo shows Nikon 24mm f2.8's capability--Sony A7 wasn't crop body like above's.



Three photos were taken at same spot--Sincheongyo. Olympus E-P3's was slight different angle though.
So you can compare the full frame camera with crop body camera--crop factor of x1.5 and x2.

I have a tilt adapter which can capture diorama style photo.
I don't know much about this diorama effect but I'm just showing what it will do with this adapter.

Gameloft's new way to cheat customer - Asphalt 8 blueprint update.


I was very disappointed about how Gameloft update the game--last year, I think. So I didn't play like a year.

Recently I wasn't very interest to watch movie--which is one of my favourite thing, in my free time. So I'd like to try something else and I decided to try Asphalt 8 again.


Back to Asphalt 8.

I have quite number of cars so I can enjoy some TLE(Time-Limited Event) and MP(Multiplayer). And I can find quite number of new things like Blueprint, Porsche, new map-Patagonia and among other things.

It wasn't easy to familiar with Patagonia map because I don't have new car to try that in career mode or mastery challenge. So I had to do playing so long time in MP because in MP, I can choose the map.


Not bad, I thought.

Doing TLE, I don't have C, B, A and S class king anymore. I don't mind playing with second or third best car. So that's fine.
Actually I was quite surprised that D class king is Mazda RX8.

So at least, I don't have to buy other D class cars and upgrade it--which required credits farming for several hours--doing same thing over, over, , , , , , and over which makes me feel boring.


Anyway, I don't really try to get the cars I don't own because I don't want to do that credits farming.
But I do enjoy playing in multiplayer league(even in free race) so I thought about get good multiplayer cars.
I have some but it was lower rank car so it takes long time to finish the race.

So I try to learn about this Blueprint thing.



Asphalt 8 Exclusive deal.

in addition to massive price drops in offers' prices, partially due to players' complaints.

Massive price drop.
Why they can do massive price drop? It was extremely expensive in first place, right?

Some of items, it was slightly discounted for sure.

As you can see first photo, 5 of Extra Tank for 560 tokens. One extra tank price was 200 tokens. So it was really great price.



But not so fast....

See this Blueprint price. Just one Porsche 959 BP, Porsche Cayman GT4 BP for 150 tokens.

According to the Wikia website's Porsche 959 page:
The Porsche 959 costs 1,100 tokens to purchase, according to the game's internal data. Otherwise, the car must be assembled with 14 Porsche 959 BP cards.
....
For a limited time, it is possible to purchase Porsche 959 Full BP Pack, which contains all 14 Blueprints required to build the 959, at cost of 1,600 tokens, 500 tokens higher than the hidden purchase price.

You can even ignore game's internal data. Gameloft offered 1,600 tokens to 14 blueprints. So about 114.28 tokens for one bp card.
But this exclusive deal sell the car for 2,100 tokens. So this is 500 tokens higher than the limited time offer which is 500 tokens higher than game's internal data.


According to the Wikia website's Porsche Cayman GT4 page:
According to the game's internal data, the Porsche Cayman GT4 costs 2,500 tokens to purchase. To obtain normally, the car must be assembled after collecting 35 Common Porsche Cayman GT4 BP cards.

Unfortunately, this car don't have information like Porsche 959.
One bp card costs 150 tokens. This car need 35 cards to assembled car. So it will cost 5,250 tokens.

As you can see, Gameloft really try to sell twice the original price.

But what you have to know is that this original price was higher than previous cars and they don't perform better than that price.


Their car price was sky-rocketed--because every update, Gameloft did double and triple the cars and earn credits or tokens were not really increased.



Hide price and secretly double or triple the price.

You probably don't believe me. So I will show one more evidence.

I've got other special offer--this one actually made me realised all this.

Grants 10 cards. 1 will be a Blueprint card for the Mosler Super GT!

Special Offer: Mosler Super GT BP for 1,850 tokens. I remember the some blueprints box so I searched it in Asphalt 8 wikia websites.
According to the Wikia website's Pro Boxes page:
Racer Construction Box - Grants 5 random Blueprint cards for 1,100 tokens.
Expert Construction Box - Grants 10 random Blueprint cards for 2,225 tokens.

Expert Construction Box cost 2,225 tokens so it was good price, I thought.
When I tried to upload this screen shot to that wikia website's Pro Boxes page, I found this explanation: Grants 10 cards. 1 will be a Blueprint card for the Mosler Super GT!
I was like 'what?'

10 random cards box costs for 1,850 tokens? If I want to spend that token, I will buy two of champion kit box which I will get 60 cards.

Again, I checked price from Wikia.

According to the Wikia website's Mosler Super GT page:
The Mosler Super GT has a buying price of 14,000 tokens. As of the Car Blueprints Update, the Mosler Super GT can be crafted after obtaining 18 Mosler Super GT BP cards.

This car previously sell with token. So I can exactly calculate. 18 blueprint cards for 14,000 tokens. So one blueprint card costs 777.7778 tokens.

That means 1,072 tokens for other 9 random cards. Champion kit box is 30 cards with at least 10 will be rare or legendry box only cost 950 tokens. Expert Kit box is 8 random cards and it only cost 200 tokens.



Here is the someone commented in Wikia website's Car Blueprints Update page:
After this update many cars that can be obtained by tokens or from events like EDD/R&D has been made into bp cars. So now let's say the Fenyr needs 14k tokens to buy when offer for a limited time. But now it's 20 legendary bps which means 20x2250=45000 tokens. Lol the price is more than tripled. Also if you are not very lucky then you can never get any legendary bps from credits boxes. So those cars has been made almost impossible to get.

What I see is... Gameloft make this blueprint for hide price so nobody knew exact price. And then secretly double and triple the price for saying 'Exclusive Deal', 'Great Deal', 'Special Offer'.
It actually means double and triple price deal.


I strongly suggest to check the Asphalt 8 wikia website before you buy those deals.

Technical note:
Photo taken with Sony A7 and Nikon 105mm f2.5 Ai-s lens.
I don't remember exact aperture number but judging by time--sunset, out of focus area and shutter speed, it probably f/2.5 or f/3.2-ish.
And then raw file processed with RawTherapee.
 - exposure - auto
 - increase highlight and shadow
 - film simulation to Kodak Kodachrome 200
And then that processed jpg file post processed with Gimp.
 - adjust level
 - adjust curves
 - resized to 3600 pixels.



thought on Kodachrome film.

RawTherapee support variety of film simulation so I have more than 100 of film simulation. One of my favourite is Kodachrome. I just don't understand why--even Kodachrome film simulation looked superb, Kodak stopped producing it.
Early 2017, Kodak said they will bring back Ektachrome though so it might possible to Kodachrome, too.

I didn't even read whole thing because I know the cost of web storage.

So I wrote in my facebook timeline:

Do you know how much does it cost for 5giga byte storage for internet?
Do you know flickr.com even give you free for about 200 times more size--1 tera byte of hard disk? Of course, they will display the advertisement but it was soo small that you will not even notice it.
Are you living in stone age that you think 5 giga byte of storage were some kind of miracle size?
Go and learn how internet became nowadays.


It wasn't really unlimited storage. And it wasn't started like that.

I was quite strange that Google give unlimited storage because there has limit. What I know is it will reduce the size, that's why I've got only 15 giga byte which isn't free at first, if I'm not mistaken.

Google advertised when you buy the android phone, you will get 15 giga byte of web storage.
I thought that 15 giga byte of web storage was really big about 3 to 5(??) years ago. But actually it wasn't.
Because I'm sharing with all of my google services like email, google docs, drives, photos, videos and even here--my blog service.


See. Actually it wasn't big. Because each product has 3 to 5 giga byte which is almost same as any other service.

People--even internet technology news writer, actually don't know why google give 15 giga byte. And they think google gave it for free because it was big.


Some of us know 15 giga byte was actually not big. So does Google.



Unlimited storage but compressed image--that means image quality will loss.

So Google offer the unlimited storage with limited photo size. I probably confused about this but if I'm not mistaken, they reduce the size more than half size if it was even 13 mega pixel. That's why I choose upload photos with original quality. I choose that almost year ago, I think.

Photos are compressed to save space. If a photo is larger than 16MP, it will be resized to 16MP.

Wait a sec. So Google only offer that much!?

Facebook, almost everyone using nowadays, right?
I've never seen any limitation of photos. People kept uploading it, don't they?
Yes, reduced photo quality(like Google does or more) and size but they gave almost(??) unlimited size, don't they?

How about Instagram?
Do I heard any limitation about photo uploading?
Yes, reduced photo quality(it wasn't much, I think. More for the size, I guess) and size. But they gave almost(??) unlimited storage, don't they?


How about flickr.com which I mentioned very earlier.
Yes, they offer 1 tera byte of storage.



Do you think do I have to find out all the other websites about the offer? It's enough, right?

That's why Quora.com who has best answer. And choose that--Apple fanatic side of story, for the best of quora.

P.S. (at April 3, 2019): I found this question at quora.com - Why does Google offer unlimited storage for photos via Google Photos app? What's in it for Google?
So many answers include what I mentioned here.
Interesting thing is nobody talked about facebook or instagram. Because I'm sure they know about the websites and very likely using the websites. But they don't even know facebook and instagram gave unlimited photo storage like Google does--I'm sure some of their friends uploaded thousands and thousands of photos.

What dinnertime looks like in 36 different homes - interesting idea but...

Before talk about the thing that bothering me, I am not saying these photos were terrible or it was terrible idea.
It was indeed interesting idea. And photos were very interesting, too.


But when I looked those photos, I felt quite bad and after half way through those photos, I felt so borded to see already.
It was interesting idea and photos looked nice. But why I felt bored already.

That's why I started thinking about it. And in the comments section, people already talked about it.

Here is some of it:
Ann Smith said "There seems to be so much stress behind these pictures. Several looked like walking in on the middle of an argument or just a loveless home."

Taylor Elizabeth Salmon said "Did the photographer tell everyone to not smile? Because everyone has such a straight, sad face."

Cia Macleod Marsh said "everyone is staring at the camera like a wax model, which they definitely don't do when they usually eat dinner..."

And here is what I thought:
I think I might be right that what I thought--it was all terrible set-up scene. Photographer intentionally capture the very depressing scene--after half way, I felt so bored to see the photos.

I don't know about you. But many times, I am enjoy eating. Why you want to crying while you eat very delicious food--of course, we usually eat quite similar thing in daily so it can become a usual thing.
Almost all the people (in the photos) aren't natural and some houses looked as it is. But I felt that almost half of houses, I felt they cleaned up (and set-up) for taking photos.



So I checked photographer's website and then I found that it was a bit better. It didn't say anything about "What dinnertime looks like in 36 different homes".

This is how human beings are thinking nowadays. -- to facebook timeline

If you know me, I always suggest to do the blogging. And I was totally right, after trying to find something from old post in facebook group. It was not just taking forever to load(extremely slow)--because most of them were useless news articles, photos, etc.
There has almost zero creative(or innovative) thought in it.

This is how human beings are thinking nowadays. Don't care about old post. Just always looking for trend.

Everyday we trashed things to this timeline. And completely remove from your memory. And hopping for someone to understand your (or my) trashed thoughts.


My facebook timeline probably also like trash but I'm trying to put some information--something useful, at least.
-- Several years later, I realised that it was useless. Because facebook was useless for searching anything. This is the reason I am quite rarely visiting there.

This is actually not only about facebook timeline. Twitter timeline also same as well.
And recently I spent sometime at discord channels. And I realised it was very similar happening there. And telegram, too.


* I thought about write it in my timeline in facebook but I didn't. Not only because my friends will not understand.
Because I'd like to keep this thought in public so some people can read and think about it.

Asphalt 8's rubbish elite tune up, BXR Bailey Blade GT1 Enduro Double Down

I had kind of long break. So when I came back to play, Elite car was already there.
I found out from Asphalt 8 Wikia's Elite Cars Update page--it was released around April 1, 2016.

It wasn't that long then. But at least four months were passed. But Gameloft probably don't even try to fix the problem.
So many people already talked about it. But they don't listen. No, probably they don't care.

It seemed to me that waste customer's credits and tokens(and customer's time) are ordinary thing to them.



When I played with free try elite car from TLE(Time-Limited Event), this tune up things were very messy--because I didn't have any elite car before. I did 'tune up' but a few hours or days later, it was completely gone. Sometimes, it was half full. Or sometimes, played it one or two times, it already became red-stat-car.
At first, I thought I forgot to 'tune up'. But it kept happening.
And many people in the internet community said same thing.


So should I keep watching whether this 'tune up' working properly? Or even screenshots to it for the evidence??




Anyway, when I play this BXR Bailey Blade GT1 EDD (Enduro Double Down), I was worried that this 'tune up' will make problem.

When I tried to do this challenge 3, it was degraded car. So I did Elite car 'tune up'.

So I had to wait for almost two hours.

About four hours later, I tried to do the challenge 3. And I've got this:

See. That's why I said this at the beginning:

* Again my guess was right. I did apply the tune up. About 30 minutes later, I checked this 'tune up' thing. But four hours later, it was completely gone. So I had to apply 'tune up' again. That means I had to play next day.
Meanwhile, 2 out of 3 invitation at the time and one invitation was delivered within 2+ hours. So while doing sleep or work, my EDD invitation was fully charged for very and very long time. So I probably wasted one EDD invitation for waiting and again, waiting for complete the 'tune up'.

But after I spent one invitation, I had to only wait like 4+ hours(it suppose to 8 hours wait for the edd invitation ticket). It's like one hidden space is there so 8 hours probably okay. But if it's more than that, ticket timer will stop. So player must keep 'tune up' and use ticket carefully.



I waited around four hours to 'tune up' but it was completely gone. So I just don't like keep waiting.
So I decided to try with degraded car.
Recommended car rank is 1548. Mine was 1595 with degraded.....

It did mess up with other elite car's tune up.

It happened quite number of times and I remembered it will mess up with other elite car.
So I remembered that I played free try elite car from TLE.


So I check the car in TLE:

That was very strange because I played it about two or three times. But as you see, tune up was almost full-only one part was gone.
Was I confused with previous play?

So I did check the leaderboard because it will show the last time of play:

Yes, this will prove only played it three hours and thirty minutes before.
But I remembered why I played it and how many times I played it. I was more than 5,000(or 4,500-ish) position so I played it to make that 4 random card boxes. So at least I played a few times.


After I apply the Bailey's tune up. I played this for about two or three times.
After I played this, I checked whether Bailey's tune up was progress or not.

Because this happened(mess up with other elite car) quite number of times so I checked.



So now I stopped play Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Multiplayer Cup because I had to play Bailey EDD.
I played it several times. But it became nothing because I probably can't get anything from this TLE.

Asphalt 8: Cost to win the Aston Martin One-77 Enduro Double Down, result and stats


I've won the Aston Martin One-77 three days before Enduro Double Down end. So I played it for five days.

Here is my challenge list in Windows :
- After second EDD invitation challenge list, I included my collected points, spent tokens and car upgrade status. Fourth to eighth EDD tryout have some screenshots of challenge.

You don't have to read whole challenge list but first, second(or third) and sixth(and fifth)--which I collected more than 20,000 points should be enough.




Failed at ace race:
  • 1st tryout - challenge 23 Dragon Tree (I choose Auto-Pass), Challenge 29 Alps
  • 2nd tryout - Suddenly keys don't work middle of challenge 12 ace race, Oceanview Derby so I had to re-try. And I failed at challenge 17 London, about 0.3 second behind so I re-tried it. But failed it again.
  • 6th tryout - challenge 12 London
  • 7th tryout - challenge 7 Dragon Tree (I choose Auto-Pass)
  • 15th tryout - challenge 7 Dragon Tree

So 6 times failed on ace race.



Failed at not ace race:
  • 3rd tryout: challenge 20 Pagani Huayra, Gate Drift
  • 4th tryout: challenge 18 Pagani Huayra, Gate Drift (same challenge as above)
  • 5th tryout: challenge 18 Aston Martin One-77, Alps Reverse, Flawless (almost landed from last barrel roll but....)
  • 6th tryout: challenge 2 Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, The Great Wall with Beat time of 1:11:000
    • I know that I shouldn't try this 'Beat a time' challenge but I have triple booster so I thought I can make it.
    • That's why so many people suggest not to play this 'Beat time' race unless have fully upgraded car.
  • 7th tryout: challenge 13 Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, Tokyo Reverse, Beat time
  • 8th tryout: challenge 13 Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, Tokyo Reverse, Beat time (same as above)
    • I'd like to try it. But not a chance. Not only because of rank. Quite huge traffics on the road--also quite different traffics.
  • 9th tryout: challenge 27 Lucra L148, Barcelona Reverse, Unplugged, Finish first
    • I don't remember how did I fail this one. My Lucra L148 is fully upgraded it so I'm pretty sure that I can easily finish first. Probably two or three times crash to the wall or something.
  • 10th tryout: challenge 22 Peugeot Onyx, Sector 8, Beat time 1:08:000
    • I know I shouldn't try 'Beat a time' challenge but not much choice so I tried it.
  • 11th tryout: challenge 24 Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, Rapio Park, Beat time
    • Beat the time challenge is hard but why I chose it? It was a misclick.
    • See that's why I can't go double at 12 and 17. Low upgraded cars--Bentley, Onyx, were kept pop out in my challenge.
  • 12th tryout: Challenge 16 Peugeot Onyx, Temple Drive
    • Maybe possible with booster but I failed challenge, anyway.
  • 13th tryout: Challenge 15 Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, Dubai
    • I crashed at the beginning--probably because of traffics. And when I try to enter the shortcut which is big curve, other AI hit me. So I crashed again to the wall. And then I couldn't take the shortcut route. So I failed it.
  • 14th tryout: Challenge 14 Pagani Huayra, The Mirage, Infected with traffics.
    • Traffics on the road. So I crashed. And then I couldn't pick up the bottle or crash other AI car so I couldn't made it to the finish line.
  • 16th tryout: Challenge 18 Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Iceland, Beat time
    • I didn't really try it. So I failed.

So 13 times failed on not ace race.


* When I played in Webster Faster One EDD, I felt that ace race wasn't really big deal--if I upgraded enough.
Many times I failed other challenges. Here my stats show same thing. 6 times failed only on ace race. Other challenges are more problematic. That means I must upgrade a lot even if I don't own the car.



EDD wasn't easier than what people are saying.

I remembered the Weber Faster One EDD that it was really difficult but many people are saying that it wasn't that hard. As you can see, it wasn't hard if you upgrade all the necessary cars to max out or more. And use booster a lot.

But as you can see below, it was quite expensive to upgrade. It was okay to upgrade Aston Martin One-77. But problem is Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 and Peugeot Onyx which I don't own. And I probably never afford to buy Peugeot Onyx which costs 6,400 tokens.
You can't afford to buy the car but you have to upgrade it(it's expensive to upgrade) for win.
That's quite crazy, don't you think?

Anyway, in Android, I couldn't get the Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) which required 40,000 points. I probably collected like 23,000+ points.
Of course, I failed badly, that's how I learned. I've won Webster Faster One in Windows.


That's why I knew after collecting 20,000+ points, it will become difficult.

Quote from 6th tryout:
Trying to calculate the safe collecting point for win the car.
I didn't upgrade it because I can collect enough points.
My point is 25,305. So I need 35,000 points to make 60,000 points.
It still remained 6 days. And 3 EDD invitations per day. So 18 EDD invitations to collect 35,000 points.
So if I can get about 1,945 points per EDD invitations, I can win the car.

But actually, next tryout, I did upgrade the car. Because I realised that it will be very hard to beat challenge 12--which will give around 2,610 points with car rank 1618 (max 2322, pro 3253).
Until challenge 7, I will get 1,160 points only. So it wasn't enough for 1,945 points.
So I needed to do until challenge 12. So with 1618 rank, I must use triple booster--that means very expensive because Extra Tank costs 200 tokens.


After 20,000 points, it will become difficult than before. But that's not all.
Challenge 3 Oceanview Derby was my first tryout's challenge 17.
And then it became challenge 12 in second, third, fourth, fifth tryout.
Challenge 7 Dragon Tree was my first tryout's challenge 23.
Challenge 12 London was my second, third, fourth and fifth tryout's challenge 17.
This ace race challenge will stay same until the end.
But what you have to remember is that other not ace race challenge will slightly become difficult. It will not become very hard. But it will.
For example, I saw traffics(other AI cars) on the road at first tryout's challenge 19. But later I've seen traffics on challenge 16 and more later, challenge 13.
So you have to upgrade it slightly more for prepare the difficulty changes.

My strategy for the upgrades
Previous--sixth tryout became difficult because I collected more than 20,000 points. So now I know what to expect. Because this ace race difficulty will stay same. So now I can decide whether how much more upgrade to defeat the ace race.

I know I can win the car. That means I will upgrade it, eventually. So it is better to upgrade now so I can save boosters.
Double booster--Nitro Starter and Tuning Kit isn't expensive but if I kept using it, it will be expensive.
Until this tryout, I probably spend more than 10 that means 175,000 credits. So it is better upgrade more.

Extra Tank is slight different reason, quoted from second tryout:
Previous Weber Faster One EDD, I made mistake almost every time. That made me quite crazy--I probably spend more than 1,300 tokens--problem is I failed on easy task many times.
So this time, I was on Extra Tank almost all the time until yesterday's one--12th EDD invitation.

  • 1st - collected 8,300 points (Auto-Pass so spent 500 tokens)
  • 2nd - collected 2,630 points (Two times of Re-try so spent 400 tokens)

  • 7th - collected 2,630 points (Auto-Pass so spent 250 tokens)
  • 8th - collected 2,630 points

Spent tokens:
  • First and Second tryout, I spent 900 tokens.
  • Sixth tryout, I failed at challenge 2. So I spent 40 tokens.
  • Seventh tryout, I failed at challenge 7 Dragon Tree ace race so spend 250 tokens for auto-pass. You can read details here - Asphalt 8 EDD(Enduro Double Down), It's harder than what people are saying.
  • Ninth tryout, I spent 25 tokens three times(so 75 tokens) for re-roll.
  • Total: 1,265 tokens.



Car upgrade status:
  • Aston Martin One-77 upgrade status: R1646 (max 2322, pro 5255)
  • fully maxed and proed it--Aston Martin V12 Vantage, Lucra L148, Pagani Huayra
  • After collecting around 20,000 points, I don't get any more challenge from these fully upgraded cars: AC 378 GT Z, Aston Martin DB9 Coupé, Aston Martin V12 Zagato
  • Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 upgrade status: R1544 (max 1211, pro 2222)
  • Peugeot Onyx: R1563 (max 2322, pro 1111)

I have only one Free A Class Upgrade from mastery rewards. So I probably saved 250,000 credits.

So 670,175 credits were wasted.



* This is one of the thing that many people don't talk about. If you understand this, R&D and EDD are very difficult and very expensive than what people are saying.

Spent boosters for lower rank of car or play it safe:

Here is the reason why I use boosters:
Previous Weber Faster One EDD, I made a mistake almost every time. So that made me quite crazy--I probably spend more than 1,300 tokens--problem is I failed on easy task many times.
So this time, I was on Extra Tank almost all the time until 12th tryout.
I started to use ace race challenge 7 with triple booster-Nitro Starter+Tuning Kit+Extra Tank. Actually this triple booster is for ace race.
So even if I made a mistake, I probably can catch up the AI.
Other reason is I didn't upgrade enough yet for compete with AI.


* Nowadays, If you don't use booster in EDD or R&D or even TLE(Time-Limited Event), things are really going bad. Because AI cars are very aggressive. They will play suicide with your car. Or barricade road. Or hit the traffics and than make trapped with those corpse of traffics.
If I make a little mistake on the road and then near the finish line--very good example is Iceland, AI suddenly catch up my car and go play suicide or make a trouble so made me failed main goal.
It became more and more necessary items than before.



This is how I use booster:

Many times, I don't even use any booster for TLE(Time-Limited Event). I will use only if I can get better reward because without booster, I can still make within 5,000 in recent daily heat TLE.

For example, yesterday's The Monday Heat TLE:

As you can see, I didn't use any booster. And made to 1,895 position. So if I use double booster (I don't think it's easy because it was very competitive to make top 1,000 or 500--many times without triple booster is very hard because I don't really have best TLE car like Mitubishi Eclipse, (have a Toyota Supra RZ but don't have i6 engine card to pro. But at least I have a Felino cB7.), McLaren 675LT, Mosler GT3, Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 or Chevrolet 2016 Camaro SS. S class, my best cars are W Motors Lykan HyperSport and Weber Faster One.
In Android, I have Koenigsegg One:1 and Peugeot Onyx but it was almost useless in any TLE and even in MP(Multiplayer).

If I use double booster--Nitro Starter+Tuning Kit, maybe I will get a Nitro Starter. But just one. So should I pay 17,500 credits to get 7,500 credits more? Of course not.
And make within 1,000 position is very competitive so if I can't make it in 5 times (2 fuel to require to play), I had to pay 17,500 credits more for try again. So it's actually expensive.

But if case like this, I will use booster:

If I can make less than 1:28:000, I can get 25 tokens. And I tried it without booster. But I can make it like 1:29:xxx.
I tried with Nitro Starter but it still isn't enough.
So later I will use Tuning Kit only because it's long track so I probably can make 2 seconds faster than without booster which is enough to get 25 tokens.

Of course, I can use Tuning Kit with other TLE like Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe Cup or Cadillac ATS-V Coupe Cup. Only 10 fuel so I can't try more than two TLE.



So as you can see, I can play quite well even without booster.


I didn't actually write down how many boosters I use. But luckily, I recorded some of EDD ace race. So this is almost beginning one--first try out's challenge 7, Highland View.

I have 41 of Nitro Starter, 29 of Tuning Kit and 56 of Extra Tank.


I use the Extra Tank for safety measure but this helped a lot in any challenge.

I have 15 of Nitro Starter, 12 of Tuning Kit and 52 of Extra Tank.


So I spent
  • Nitro Starter x26  worth 195,000 credits
  • Tuning Kit x17  worth 170,000 credits
  • Extra Tank x4  worth 800 tokens
  • Total: 365,000 credits and 800 tokens



How this booster helped in EDD:

I have collected booster from TLE and mastery rewards so I actually didn't spend credits. But I can't get that much easily again.
Last Webster Faster One EDD, I've failed (only 23,000+  points) in Android and I've win in Windows. And in Windows, I've win just before one day and a few hours (or two days) before EDD end.

This time, I've win before three days. So it saved almost two (or one day and 10+ hours) days.

If you play two or three invitation in one go, it will take more than one or two hours.


I will give you more evidence:
I played same EDD in Android later. And I have one more car--Peugeot Onyx than Windows. So I need upgrade for Bentley EXP10 Speed 6 only. And I upgraded Aston Martin One-77 to R1709 (max 2521 pro 5555)--compare to R1646 (max 2322, pro 5255). And upgraded it very earlier than Windows's.
And I already knew what kind of challenge will pop out--it wasn't much different than Windows.
But I've finished only 16th tryout so just one before--17th tryout Windows's EDD.
I upgraded a lot so I didn't much use the booster.

So if I didn't use booster, I must upgrade Aston Martin One-77 a lot and have to more longer days to win the car.
See booster can make a lot of difference.



How much credits, tokens and pro cards were wasted for win the Aston Martin One-77.

I will not include Aston Martin One-77 because I won the car. So all the upgrades and pro upgrades, I will have it.



1,265 tokens for failed challenge.
365,000 credits and 800 tokens for booster.
670,175 credits for upgrades - Bentley EXP10 Speed 6, Peugeot Onyx

1,035,175 credits and 2,065 tokens.

and pro cards:

These were just wasted. Those were kind of minimal requirement.


But don't forget. If you don't use booster, you probably need more upgrade for all the cars. I didn't upgrade much for Bentley and Onyx because of booster.

Bentley and Onyx's remain upgrade is quite close to 100,000+ credits so it is still better to use booster. Because remain booster can be use other challenge--especially ace race.


It's possible without booster. But you probably have to max out the all the cars. That means
  • 3 million credits for max out the Bentley
  • 1.15 million credits for max out the Peugeot Onyx
  • 1.53 million credits to max out the Lucra L148
  • 1 million credits to max out the AC 378 GT Z

So if you don't have cars, you have to wasted 6.6 million credits.

Of course, you can upgrade like 4424-ish so save some credits. But it still need a few million credits.


EDD rewards:
Yes, there has EDD rewards but this wasn't even enough for upgrade Aston Martin One-77. So I didn't mention it.

I tried this EDD in Android again because I have all the cars fully upgraded it except Bentley. And I don't have high-end A class car, too.
* It wasn't very different from Windows. Probably because I have very similar cars for this EDD--only difference is Peugeot Onyx.

Asphalt 8 - What's so special about this MP-TLE, Summer Championship?

This Summer Championship MultiPlayer Time-Limited Event, what am I missing here?

Rewards are rubbish. Top 25 for 35,000 credits. It didn't even have any tokens reward or nice boxes.

But it looked like lots of people go with booster--triple booster, double booster, you name it.


I am trying to get only for the finish first reward--35 tokens. But I couldn't finish first because there always have at least double booster or triple boosters. That's not the only reason.
Those boosters are so crazy about win the race so starting point, they all hit other cars.
* 35,000 credits (25 players only so probably some of them can't even get it whether they use Extra Tank or not) for the spend 200 tokens worth Extra Tank?



What?? you really think this is Championship event?

If it is so, why max A class car. And championship event rewards top 25 are for 35,000 credits?
Do you think that's the kind of championship race reward?


Put some nice event name. It looked like many players were fell for it.



I didn't even think about to play a lot but I couldn't do the finish first so I have no other choice. And then my position is like that.


Event reward is so low that you probably can't get back what you spend for the boosters.
