Very white and shiny cloud afternoon.

Nowadays Korea has very and very bad pollution so it was quite hard to see far distance.
And it makes really problem with taking photos because photo became very dull with hazy air.

It doesn't look clear when I saw far distance so I wasn't very excited. But those white cloud make things interested.

Very white and shiny cloud afternoon. 오랜만에 보는 새하얀 구름.

I think this photo wasn't really represent today's view because this pollution-hazy-air make white cloud little bit less white.
But I did use Sony A7's rich tone mono in picture effect which is I think HDR(High Dynamic Range) B&W.
That's why there has shadow of blurred bird.

Photo taken with Sony A7 and Carl Zeiss Biotar 58mm f/2 exakta mount lens.
Aperture was at f/8.

This is very old lens 1957-ish so I had to adjust lots of things with Gimp.
But generally simple things like adjust level, use curves tool and straightening.
One hard thing was shake part on very top edge because rich tone mono needed three shots. So I had to use clone and heal tool in Gimp.

* about the Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar 58mm f/2 lens.
It became one of my favourite lens so I have two of them--both were Exakta mount lens and those were made between 1955 and 1961. So it's about 60 year old lens.
And I also like this preset mode.
60 year old lens but it still works beautifully.

This is the reality---how Apple fanboy dominated this world. - Reality of web storage service.

I've got photos from friend--

screenshot from Best Of Quora facebook page

I didn't even read whole thing because I know the cost of web storage.

So I wrote in my facebook timeline:
This is the reality---how Apple fanboy dominated this world.
Do you know how much does it cost for 5giga byte storage for internet?
Do you know flickr.com even give you free for about 200 times more size--1 tera byte of hard disk? Of course, they will display the advertisement but it was soo small that you will not even notice it.
Are you living in stone age that you think 5 giga byte of storage were some kind of miracle size?
Go and learn how internet became nowadays.

It wasn't really unlimited storage. And it wasn't started like that.

I was quite strange that Google give unlimited storage because there has limit. What I know is it will reduce the size, that's why I've got only 15 giga byte which isn't free at first, if I'm not mistaken.

Google advertised when you buy the android phone, you will get 15 giga byte of web storage.
I thought that 15 giga byte of web storage was really big about 3 to 5(??) years ago. But actually it wasn't.
Because I'm sharing with all of my google services like email, google docs, drives, photos, videos and even here--my blog service.

See. Actually it wasn't big. Because each product has 3 to 5 giga byte which is almost same as any other service.
For example, wordpress which is same as blogger here, give 3 giga byte of storage. You can read details here-Adding Storage Space — Support — WordPress.com
Other example, dropbox which is same as google drive, give 2 giga byte of storage. You can read details here-How much does Dropbox cost? - Dropbox Help - Dropbox
Onedrive which is same as google drive, give 5 giga byte of storage. You can read details here-Microsoft OneDrive Plans

People--even internet technology news writer, actually don't know why google give 15 giga byte. And they think google gave it for free because it was big.

Some of us know 15 giga byte was actually not big. So does Google.

Unlimited storage but compressed image--that means image quality will loss.

So Google offer the unlimited storage with limited photo size. I probably confused about this but if I'm not mistaken, they reduce the size more than half size if it was even 13 mega pixel. That's why I choose upload photos with original quality. I choose that almost year ago, I think.

Google Photos: Unlimited storage for free, with a few gotchas @ June 1, 2015 By Todd Ogasawara
Google Photo gives you unlimited storage space if you are willing to limit photo resolution to 16 megapixels and video resolution to 1080p. You do have the option to store at higher resolutions, but the storage counts against your Google Drive quota.

But it's not only photo resolution. It will compressed image, too.

Choose the upload size of your photos and videos - Google Photos Help
Photos are compressed to save space. If a photo is larger than 16MP, it will be resized to 16MP.

Or if you can buy a Google Pixel phone, you will get unlimited storage without those limitation. You can read here - Google is giving free, unlimited original-quality photo and video backups with the Pixel phones @ Oct 4, 2016 by Lauren Goode

Wait a sec. So Google only offer that much!?

Facebook, almost everyone using nowadays, right?
I've never seen any limitation of photos. People kept uploading it, don't they?
Yes, reduced photo quality(like Google does or more) and size but they gave almost(??) unlimited size, don't they?

How about Instagram?
Do I heard any limitation about photo uploading?
Yes, reduced photo quality(it wasn't much, I think. More for the size, I guess) and size. But they gave almost(??) unlimited storage, don't they?

How about flickr.com which I mentioned very earlier.
Yes, they offer 1 tera byte of storage.

Do you think do I have to find out all the other websites about the offer? It's enough, right?

See the title of this article. "This is the reality--how Apple fanboy dominated this world."
That's why Quora.com who has best answer. And choose that--Apple fanatic side of story, for the best of quora.

P.S. Slightly different but almost same story - Illogical idea ruled internet--especially social networking sites. @ March 17, 2017 - my other blog.

P.S. (at April 3, 2019): I found this question at quora.com - Why does Google offer unlimited storage for photos via Google Photos app? What's in it for Google?
So many answers include what I mentioned here.
Interesting thing is nobody talked about facebook or instagram. Because I'm sure they know about the websites and very likely using the websites. But they don't even know facebook and instagram gave unlimited photo storage like Google does--I'm sure some of their friends uploaded thousands and thousands of photos.

What dinnertime looks like in 36 different homes - interesting idea but...

I've got news from my friends

What dinnertime looks like in 36 different homes @ Jan. 19, 2017, at 1:33 a.m.
"These intimate portraits invite the viewer to take a seat at the table."

These photos were taken by Lois Bielefeld.

Before talk about the thing that bothering me, I am not saying these photos were terrible or it was terrible idea.
It was indeed interesting idea. And photos were very interesting, too.

But when I looked those photos, I felt quite bad and after half way through those photos, I felt so borded to see already.
It was interesting idea and photos looked nice. But why I felt bored already.

That's why I started thinking about it. And in the comments section, people already talked about it.

Here is some of it:
Ann Smith said "There seems to be so much stress behind these pictures. Several looked like walking in on the middle of an argument or just a loveless home."

Taylor Elizabeth Salmon said "Did the photographer tell everyone to not smile? Because everyone has such a straight, sad face."

Cia Macleod Marsh said "everyone is staring at the camera like a wax model, which they definitely don't do when they usually eat dinner..."
quoted from article's comment section.

And here is what I thought:
I think I might be right that what I thought--it was all terrible set-up scene. Photographer intentionally capture the very depressing scene--after half way, I felt so bored to see the photos.

I don't know about you. But many times, I am enjoy eating. Why you want to crying while you eat very delicious food--of course, we usually eat quite similar thing in daily so it can become a usual thing.
Almost all the people (in the photos) aren't natural and some houses looked as it is. But I felt that almost half of houses, I felt they cleaned up (and set-up) for taking photos.

So I checked photographer's website and then I found that it was a bit better. It didn't say anything about "What dinnertime looks like in 36 different homes".

Photographer said
The focus of Weeknight Dinners is the typical evening meal, when food and space often become secondary to the busy workday.

This is reason I don't much upload photos to flickr.

I know many people seeing my photos in flickr. Photos that older than one year ago were mainly related to the society issues. So it's understandable.
Because I don't shy about what I am writing.

But recent photos are quite different. Because I am trying to learn about the photography.
And I was quite shocked because some of those photos also have 300 to 1,000 views. You can see it from here.

And my self-portrait photo also got more than 1,000 views.

So I felt quite shy about many people have seen my photos.
It made me happy? Not really.
Because many Koreans read some of my writings so I don't much care about the fame-ness or something.
It's good feeling, of course.

It made me very serious about uploading the photos. Because I would prefer worth to see kind of photos rather than just one time seeing photo.
So I hope that people felt something from my photos-It won't probably happen because my writing is always my main priority so….

p.s. Most of my photos in flickr were taken with Nokia phone. I don't think anyone noticed it.

You are glad to limit your imagination!?

You shouldn't limit your imagination. But you are happy to limit your imagination to 3.5 to 10 inch iPhone, smartphone or tabletPC screen.

Many gadget lovers are living in their own small world.

What a ridiculous idea. If I'm not doing in wedding photography, I am not a professional photographer?

Get out of your narrow-minded world.
He or she was talking like looking down photographers who don't use mention the product. People use product their needs, not by your choice.

No wonder there has movie call the 'The Matrix'.

Flickr in Seoul meetup at the Eungbongsan for night shoot

This is what it looked like in up there.
Night in Seoul, view from the Eungbongsan with sepia tone
Night in Seoul, view from the Eungbongsan with sepia tone

You can also check out some of panorama photos from Emre Kanik–Sunset at the Han River and Enjoying the View of the Han River.

Some of FIS(Flickr in Seoul) members are trying to do night shoot this Saturday, November 9 at 5:00pm-ish. And we can do night walk, too, if you want to.

We will meet at the Oksu station line 3 exit 2. And then we will walk to the Eungbongsan. This mountain is like hill so you don't have to worry about the going up.
And it should better to buy things or eat before go up.

If the weather is going to bad, I will probably postpone the meetup but it probably wasn't going to raining heavily in Autumn so very unlikely.

There has other possibilities such as go down to the river for taking photo of bridge or night hiking through '서울 산책로'. Or go to the Donghodaegyo '동호대교'.
Or if you have more time and want some more, we can go to the other scenic viewpoint, too.

Anyway, I think this scenic viewpoint is one of most spectacular cityscape viewpoint in Seoul.
If you can imagine the location from google map, you will get the idea.

* the night bus information near area
If your home is Gangnam, Daechi, Gaepo, Seongnam or Bundang area, there has night buses such N37, 402 at the '순천향대학병원' Soonchunhyang university hospital bus station.
And some of red buses such as 1005-1, 5500 still going to Sooji or Jeongja area until 1:00am (or 1:50am or possibly 2:00am) because their last bus' departure time is around 12:30am.

** I forgot to mention that this is weekday bus schedule for red bus so last red bus could be more earlier than what I mentioned.

beauty of curves

beauty of curves

It was so beautiful flower that I had to upload.
Interestingly most of my photos aren't flower but I am uploading at first.

I don't know anything about the flower but it was kind of favourite subject for taking photos, especially with my phone camera.

Created Equal: A Study of Social and Cultural Clashes by Mark Laita – interesting idea but…

I've got news from Black+White photography facebook page. Here is their introduction:

Exploring the differences and clashes between social groups, Mark Laita's book Born Equal presents a series of thought provoking diptychs: http://ow.ly/lxhE5
/via Black+White photography@fb
quoted from here

Original post is this: Created Equal: A Study of Social and Cultural Clashes by Mark Laita @ May 6, 2013 3:55pm by IEVA

I think it was very interesting idea. Of course, he took photos very nicely and some of the photos looked like came from real world.
But when I look at the some of the photos, I felt it doesn't look like real. Or I think someone coordinate the clothes and props. Or he purposefully choose look very ugly(or too nice) one for comparison's sake.
It was just how I feel. It doesn't mean I was right.

your only limitation is imagination, not equipment. by Bruce Barnbaum

"Let's proceed with the assumption that your only limitation is imagination, not equipment."
quote from the book "The Art of Photography: An Approach to Personal Expression" by Bruce Barnbaum

I know he was trying to explain about how light will affect a photograph so what I am saying here isn't really against what he says.

"Your only limitation is imagination." That is truth. So it doesn't need any assumption.

So I googled with that sentence and I can find so many quotes there. If you think that equipment need to assumption, you have to think about it again.

Think about this: What is equipment? It's a tool. So what you can do with a tool? Yes, you can use it for whatever you desire. So how can I use the tool is my problem. Isn't it?

So it doesn't need any assumption. You can just say "Let's remember that your only limitation is imagination, not equipment."

p.s. I thought about this to my other blog thinking differently but I changed my mind. Because so many people believe (not just think) that equipment or tool matters for their creativity and artistic skills. This is the thing that I will write about here.

Their reality isn't real anymore.

I have always been very interested in photography. I have looked at far more photographs than I have paintings. Because their reality is stronger than reality itself. – Francis Bacon
quote taken from Fine-art photography article at Wikipedia

Unfortunately, I think not any more. I mean their reality isn't real anymore.

p.s. This story will continue and expand at my other blogs.

She has a style, I think.

She has a style, I think.

It stands out back of her, especially.
Or it wasn't just her back.

This photo was taken during the Flickr in Seoul photowalk for cherry blossom around Sangsu station area in Seoul.

I should have asked her to taking a photo.
I didn't ask because I don't know much about the fashion so I wasn't sure.

And I am a Asian so I think I must have shy for asking.
Even if I didn't have above's reason, I don't think anyone can easily ask to someone for taking photo of her back.

So this is reason photo wasn't that great but I believe you can still see her style, if you look closely.

How that place was beautiful? I can't see it.

It could be sarcasm but I don't see how that place was beautiful.

Mobypicture user Ancilla Tilia uploaded photo with this: Our shooting location Oudewater is so beautiful! http://moby.to/sjgy4a

I can imagine that house looked pretty but I have absolutely no idea how beautiful that was. Because I've never been there.

Because it doesn't have any natural and real color in it.

So I had to googling about it: oudewater – google image.

And I found this photo which was almost same site: Havenstraat, Oudewater by JohanBakker

I couldn't know why http://moby.to/sjgy4a is beautiful until I found a real photo of place http://static.panoramio.com/photos/original/2494507.jpg.
* This old link doesn't work but you can simply find wikipedia's photo from here.

Can't you see the problem with iPhone?

Friday, April 22, 2011

That's why Nokia was far more useful than iPhone.

I saw a photo from mobypicture.com.
Here is the one:

photo taken from Rick Bayless’s mobypicture

It doesn't look that nice. I mean I don't think I will go to eat that one. Because it doesn't look tasty.

That photo uploaded from Twittelator Pro – iPhone App so it probably taken with iPhone.

So here is mine that taken with Nokia 5800 XpressMusic.

It was side dish for drinking beer.
But I am sure that this one looks tastier than above one.

I didn't edit anything from that photo. Because I don't even know how to use Photoshop program.

If you want to showing the photo about your work, I really would suggest to use Nokia phone.

Cherry blossom in Sinchungyo, Daegu – comparison shot for Nokia N97 mini vs. Motorola Milestone

Nokia N97 mini has 5 Megapixel with Carl Zeiss optics and autofocus and dual LED flash.
Milestone has 5 Megapixel with autofocus and dual LED flash.
So Carl Zeiss optics was only different thing.
But you can so easily find the differences from the photo.

It was late afternoon so Milestone probably couldn’t get the enough light.
